treats make great gifts
For the past few years I’ve made Dave’s parents a dessert for Christmas. I was inspired by the Meltaway Brownie Bites Recipe from Hershey’s Kitchens but decided to make the brownie with black beans instead. I’ve seen many recipes for black bean brownie and wanted to try it myself. Treats really do make great gifts; it’s a labor of love, everyone loves sweets and it gives me an excuse to make naughty things (don’t forget it’s always good to taste your creations!).
you say potato, I say potato?
After signing up to make a sweet potato casserole for a friendsgiving event I was left with the urge to make a sweet potato pie. Although the picture may be a little deceiving I made this on a small 6 inch pie dish, just enough to satisfy my cravings! I was surprised how long it had to stay in the oven but unlike the sweet potato casserole recipe this needed to be cut into slices… and what a delicious slice of pie it was!

When I decided to make a pumpkin pie I didn’t even bother looking up different recipes and making it my own; I basically went straight to the expert. I followed the recipe almost exactly as it was written with the only exception was that I used Ideal brown sugar sweetener instead of granulated sugar. This was one of my contributions to my family’s thanksgiving dinner. I think it came out pretty good but I also got many praises from my cousin Alexandra and the bestie Kenne so if anyone wants to question it I’ll let them do the talking!

[Forewarning] This is NOT a “clean” recipe. I’m sure you know that I just recently competed in my first bikini competition. The one thing you look forward to is being able to indulge in naughty foods post-competition. Therefore, I wanted to post the trifle I made just for this. I’m hesitant to call this a “recipe” since it’s really just a matter of layering a bunch of yummy things.
Trifles are by far one of my favorite desserts. In fact, I love any kind of layered dessert. There’s something about having a mouthful of deliciousness that incorporates different flavors and textures that I absolutely love!
